A few stressless days in Lima, Peru

Hello!

I’ve been here in Lima for 3 days now… and I haven’t done anything. You might wonder if there’s something wrong with me, haha. :)

As I told you before, I’ve had an eye infection.. The first day when I arrived, my eye was quite irritated, so I just went to the supermarket and then rested at the hostal… cooked some food etc..

The second day the eye was much better, I went out for a walk in the neighbourhood, bought a Peru card for the phone and then went home, my eye is still quite sensitive to daylight..

First day in Lima, the second and the third... progress!

I met a doctor on the flight on my way to Peru from Ecuador, who wrote this down for me, so that my eye would get better quicker. :)

Actually, it feels good to not do anything.  Well, I’ve been busy doing some stuff I haven’t been able to while traveling, like just sitting by the computer.

I’m so glad there is internet here!! And that my eye doesn’t hurt too much now so that I can stare into the computer without problems :)

Yesterday I managed to do and upload 3 videos!!! That’s as much as I’ve managed to do and upload during the last 9 weeks!! Haha.

I think I needed this… to not feel stressed or pressed about anything. I don’t have anything scheduled until the 10th of May, which is when I have the reservation for the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Still I’m a little stressed about that since I know I have to be somewhere at a certain date… Haha. I know it’s quite weird. I think it’s because I’ve already decided in my head that I will change my return flight back home, so I don’t need to stress through cities/countries..

Oh… I just found out what I’m getting back from my tax refund and it will allow me to have some extra money to travel for… So I think I will use it to make a short visit to Argentina after the Machu Picchu : ) The route I’m doing is by bus, from here, Lima, to La Paz, in Bolivia. But there’s a airport in Cuzco, so after the Inka trail I don’t have any hurry anywhere anymore… So I could visit Duilio for 1-2 weeks, and then go back and continue traveling a couple of months, seeing the rest of Peru and do Bolivia. It’s just that I’m not enjoying my traveling as much as I would like to since I’m wishing for it to end all the time so I can go to Argentina…  Sounds weird too, I know… but that’s how I feel. So I think this is the best solution!

So.. back to Lima… Since I don’t know it so much, I really can’t tell you much either… I’m staying at a  hostel called “Lions backpackers”, which is really clean and nice. I’m sharing room with 2 other girls at the moment. One girl is going to live here for 6 months to study, and she already hates the city, says it’s ugly… Ok, from what I’ve seen, it’s not so beautiful, but not every city has to be! This city is quite big. But I like this district, is called Miraflores…

I’m so happy because I’ve been to the supermercado (food store) and they have eeeeverything!!!! They have pharmacy, fresh vegetables, chocolate, fruits, bread, normal food, and different brands… like eeverything… I was happy as a child in Christmas the first day and I bought so many things, for  over 100 soles (like 40 USD).. Hahaha.. So that’s why I’ve been cooking here : )

A typical old-sofia meal.. haha. Tortellini.. But I was quite happy since it's the first time I'm using the gas stove all by myself...

Today I walked down to the beach, it’s called Makaha,  where there are good waves for beginners. There’s full with small stands there with surf schools, quite funny. So tomorrow I’ll be doing my first surf here in Peru! And it costs 60 soles (23 USD)  for a lesson with all the equipment (you must have a wetsuit here too) , which is cheaper than when I took it in Mexico. So I’m glad!

Between the city and the beach.

Not the most beautiful beach I've seen, but it's fascinating how the city is builded there above these "mountains"..

It’s by the way not that expensive here, but not cheap either.. I’m not used to think in soles yet, so I find everything expensive.. it’s difficult to difference, like for example, water costs 2 soles… which I in my head change to 5 swedish crowns, which is 10 mexican pesos, and then I know if it’s cheap, ok, or expensive.. haha. Yep. Still thinking in pesos! Haha. It’s so much easier, because in Mexico I could think 80 pesos was expensive for something but 50 pesos was ok.. here it would be 16,8 soles vrs 10,5 soles… much more difficult to know if it’s a good price or not! Haha.

By the way… a lot of people are uploading pictures on instagram and facebook from different shoots and the of new film/photo stuff they’ve bought for tons of money.. so weird to see all that high tech at home,… a couple of months ago, I would have thought “Wow, I would have loved to work on that movie!” and  I was a part of that materialism too.. But today I really felt that, at this moment, I don’t want that life at all… I prefer to be exploring and living life over here for a little while.

Para ti papa!

Lo hice por ti, papi! ;)
