Mexican-Spanish differences

After the teotihuacan-tour, I went home, slept for an hour, and later met up Alejandro from couchsurfing. He is actually taking Swedish lessons because he is moving there to study in summer. But what was supposed to be a ”swedish” meeting turned out to give me lessons in mexican spanish. :)

We met in the Coyoacan area, a really nice colonia with narrow streets and small plazas. This is where a lot of musicians, poets and dancers lived before, and some of them still does, so it’s a little picturesque/bohemian. We went to a market where you could buy street food, but we bought juices. I saw the ”famous” hot-cakes guy who does hotcakes after a character you can choose, either an animal or a human.  We also went by a big bazaar/market there, so many beautiful things (that I of course can’t take with me)

We walked around at sat at different small plazas drinking our jugo and coffees, and I learned a lot of new mexican words! So much fun. One thing Alex asked me was if I’ve heard the ”güey”-word yet, and I said no. It means like ”dude”. After learning that, I heard güey eeeeverywhere. My host uses it in almost every sentence. Haha. So weird that when you don’t know a word, you don’t hear it either.

Anyhow, Alex was kind to write me a message later with the mexican-castellano dictionary, so I will post it here for those of you who understand and want to know:
